Retired Police Officer, 3 Children Die In House Fire!

Anthony Kwanmi, a retired Assistant Superintendent of Police, and 3 of his children, Theresa, Emmanuel and Kerry were burnt to death in an early morning fire that engulfed his house at Jenta-Adamu, Jos, Plateau State.

Only their skeletons were allegedly recovered after the fire was put out. But his wife and one of his children survived the unfortunate incident, which occurred in the wee hours of Monday, 8th, 2016. They are presently receiving medical attention.

The retired police officer was former Aide De’ Camp to the second civilian Governor of the State, Amb. Fidelis Tapgun.

According to eyewitness account, the fire started after
an electric spark from a meter in the house.

Kwanmi and his children went to bed and locked their doors at about 2.30am after watching a football match between Nigeria and Sweden in the ongoing Olympics Competition in Rio, Brazil.

However, neighbours were woken up by the cries for help from the children. Kwanmi reportedly made spirited efforts to open the door and free himself and the children, but the thick smoke billowing from the fire prevented him.

Online news portal, Eagle Online, reported that the last child, a girl, died at the hospital where she was receiving treatment.
