A six-month pregnant woman, Cythia Njoki, 28, is nursing serious injuries at Nakuru Level Five Hospital in Kenya, after she set herself on fire over her husband’s alleged extra-marital affair. She sustained injuries in her hands, abdomen, thighs and face.
Njoki, who suffered burns to 45% of her body, said: “I had an issue with my husband after he failed to report home and on coming, he continued to call a woman he was having a relationship with. I was
overwhelmed by anger, went into my bedroom from where I set myself ablaze."
A Nursing officer in charge of her ward, Jenipher Mathenge said, Njoki was six months pregnant and they are investigating the status of the unborn baby after they noticed the foetus had irregular heartbeat.
