Two beggars, Hadiza Nosiru and Salamotu Salitu were arrested in Oyingbo, Lagos, yesterday, by the monitoring team of Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development and 3 babies who are less than one month old were recovered from them and have been taken to the Rehabilitation and Training Centre at Majidun, new Ikorodu.
The babies were usually given out to them by their parents, who were paid between N1000 and N1500 daily. All of them have since been arrested. When interrogated, they said they do not know where the women normally take their babies to and they all blamed their actions on poverty.
