After the heavy downpour last night, this is what Akobi street in Surulere currently looks like. Refuse that have been dumped in canals and other undesignated areas have found their way to the street. Hope the Lagos state government acts fast to prevent an epidemic. Guess the floods have changed base. See more photos after the cut

Here’s how Lagos-Abeokuta expressway Sango Otta looks like after a heavy down pour today, Saturday! The road was flooded!
See some Reactions on twitter below;
Some people just open their mouth and talk anyhow without facts/basis. This so called anonymous fellow does not even know the street or how clean the street usually is on a good day. Residents pay and use Lawma weekly. (The trash you are seeing is from different parts of Lagos mainland; not dirt from street users or residents of that street. Common sense! ) This is simply an overflow of the canal a few meters away cutting off on that street. If the mainland canals were adiquately cleaned and cleared by the government with Tax payers money, this would not happen.
Blood of Jesus! This could make children sick!!

U see, when u leave like pigs u pay the price. Will government do this for u people again? See ur unkept environment. Mother Nature is paying u people in ur own coin. Enjoy it. When the season is over u will not wait for the government to declare environmental sanitation.
