Worried that your husband or boyfriend might be cheating? According to an article by The Sun UK, just this one quality could make your boyfriend or husband more likely to cheat.
Apparently, you have more reason to be concerned if he is rich. A recent study found men who see themselves as wealthy are not only more likely to play away from home, but also to find fault with their female partner’s appearance.
Researchers surveyed a pool of male and female students who were in serious relationships at Beijing Normal University, in China.
The first half of the study involved a series of mind games – which convinced the participants they were either making a lot more or a lot less money than their peers.
They were then asked how satisfied they were with their partner’s look.
Interestingly, the women’s satisfaction was NOT affected by their financial state.
But men, on the other hand, were FAR MORE LIKELY to say they didn’t like how their partner looked if they believed they were making lots of money.
Then, in a second study, the researchers tested how feeling wealthy affected their likelihood to approach an attractive member of the opposite sex and, eventually, cheat.
The subjects were given the same mind games, before being shown a picture of an attractive member of the opposite sex.
The researcher told the men and women they would be able to talk to this hottie, before taking them into an empty room which was staged with a coat and bag to make it look like the person would be coming in.
Most men and women chose a seat further away, keeping a safe distance, however some blokes let their new-found financial status go to their head – and chose a seat closer to the sexy lady.
According to Cosmopolitan, this could be down to the evolutionary theory of ‘mate value’ – which makes the man want to nab an equally or more valuable partner.
Both finding a fault with his girlfriend’s looks and looking elsewhere could be signs that the man thinks he deserves MULTIPLE lovers – all of whom validate his idea of self-worth.
