Newly-crowned Ooni of Ife, Oba
Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi (Ojaja II) on Sunday, December 13, 2015, turned
to a clergyman when he mounted the pulpit to address the congregation at
St Paul’s Anglican Church, Ayegbaju, Ile-Ife, Osun state.
According to Eaglesonline, the revered
monarch craved the indulgence of the congregation before mounting the
pulpit to lead praise songs to God and admonish the people from the holy
scriptures as part of activities marking the official presentation of
staff of office as the 51st Ooni of Ife.
During the service, Oba Ogunwusi thanked
God for choosing him, he prayed that the peace and light that he has
come to fulfill in ile-Ife would spread to Osun state, yorubaland, Oodua
race, Nigeria and the world at large.
The Lord Bishop of Ife, Rt Rev Oluranti
Odubogun, in his speech, described the Oba Adeyeye as a conqueror and
likened him to King Solomon in the Old Testament who had been ordained
as king from his mother’s womb.
He therefore asked God to grant the new
Ooni the wisdom to walk gregariously with God’s illumination so that he
can sail through and have a successful reign.
In a related development, Pastor
Williams Kumuyi, the General Superintendent of Deeper Christian Life
Ministry, during a recent visit, told the monarch to make God his pillar
while he oversees the Yoruba ancestral throne.
At the monarch’s home, Pastor Kumuyi
reminded him to try as much as possible to make heaven so as to reign
with Christ eternally.
