Bisi Alimi, a popular Nigerian gay activist, was in the country last week for the 2015 edition of Ake Arts and Book Festival.
The yearly literary feast held at the
June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto-Abeokuta, the Ogun State Capital. Bisi got
to deliver an epic lecture, paid homage to ifa and he received
divination. Ifa had good news and words of caution for Bisi. He also got
to visit Lagos and met Prof Niyi Osundare.
But the highlight , Bisi said was the
fact that he was able to see his mum again. The last time he had seen
her was over 8 years ago after hateful Nigerians made him flee the
country. Bisi was happy he came home and was able to take her back to
London but also has this to say about his journey:
Coming back to Nigeria has been a blessing. It might never be home anymore but it is still where the heart beats.
