Mark Zuckerberg Loses $16.8Billion In 2 Hours, More Than Aliko Dangote’s Entire Networth

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s net worth has fallen more than $16 billion after the company reported weaker-than-expected second-quarter results and issued guidance that its financial future isn’t as rosy as some investors thought it might be. Set against this backdrop, one activist investor wants Zuckerberg out as the firm’s chairman.

Zuckerberg recently sparked outrage when he described Facebook’s handling of content from Holocaust deniers on the social network. He subsequently backtracked on his comments.

Fake news remains an ongoing struggle for the social media giant. Earlier this week, the company was slammed by the parents of a Sandy Hook massacre victim for the hoax claims that emergedon the platform.

Facebook has also been sucked into the probe into alleged Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election.

The extent of the fallout from the Cambridge Analytica scandal and the new European privacy law, known as General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), is not yet clear. In the U.S. and Canada, Facebook’s daily active users remained flat sequentially at 185 million, while the number actually fell in Europe, falling to 279 million, down from 282 million.

Citing the company’s “mishandling” of a number of crises, one activist investor has filed a proposal that Zuckerberg be removed as the company’s chairman, Fortune reports.

Facebook has been firmly in the spotlight in the wake of the Cambridge Analytica data sharing scandal and has also come under intense scrutiny thanks to the proliferation of fake news on the platform, something Zuckerberg apologized for.

“We have a responsibility to protect your data, and if we can’t then we don’t deserve to serve you.”

– Mark Zuckerberg
Prior to Facebook’s second-quarter results, Zuckerberg had a net worth of $77.6 billion, according to Forbes. After the stock selloff, Zuckerberg’s net worth fell to roughly $68.9 billion, making him worth less than Berkshire Hathaway CEO Warren Buffett.

Facebook’s market cap has fallen roughly $120 billion, or the amount General Motors, Ford and Target are worth combined.

On its earnings call, CFO David Wehner said sales growth is likely to decline in the next two quarters as it prioritizes new formats such as Stories (a popular feature on Instagram) and continues to invest in privacy.

“We plan to grow and promote certain engaging experiences like Stories that currently have lower levels of monetization, and we are also giving people who use our services more choices around data privacy, which may have an impact on our revenue growth,” Wehner said on the conference call.

Some Wall Street analysts were still confident about the company’s future, but admitted that things were murkier after the results, especially in light of the recent European privacy laws, which went into effect in late May.

“Most People Lie About SARS Attack On Social Media” – Nigerian Police PPRO Badmus Says

Ifedolapo Badmus, a Chief Superintendent of Police and Police Public Relations Officer, Zone 2, has opened up on the outcry against SARS revealing the outcry is overhyped on socialmedia.

While reacting to the alarming number of SARS brutalisation reports, in a recent interview with Vanguard, she said: “We are aware that bad news sales faster than good news. People have been feigning SARS attack on the social media.

I am a Zonal Public Relations Officer of the Force and I have noticed that people deforms information even when there is no confrontation at all. Most people somehow, do this to seek relevance on the social media.

Even some celebrities are doing it. The issue has spiraled to the other members of the Police Force: when a normal Policeman did anything uncalled for, they tag it SARS.

This kind of act is sending a negative picture to the international community about Nigerian Police. We don’t have any other country other than Nigeria, and whatever we do reflects on us a people.

The negative effects rub off on us too as Policemen. When we are outside the country, they see us as corrupt officers due to social media postings. I have spoken to stakeholders in this #Endsars# campaign group, advising them that there are ways and manners the goal can be achieved without using social media platform to escalate the issue.

SARS integrity has been projected in a negative form abroad, and even some people are afraid to visit home with the insinuation that SARS will attack them.”

Man Buys House Next To Ex-Wife, Erects Gigantic Middle Finger Statue (Photos)

Don’t hate the player, hate the middle finger that’s now pointing at your house from your jilted lover’s back patio.

Alan Markovitz recently moved in to a home in Bloomfield Hills, Mich., next door to his ex-wife. He then proceeded to erect this bronze statue in her — and her new boyfriend’s — honor:

The middle-finger statue was brought to the world’s attention, according to Gawker, by Lenka Tuohy, the daughter of Markovitz’s ex.

“[I]t’s hard for me to enjoy my baths now because my fav tub is in my moms bathroom which faces out towards tif and alans house,” Tuohy wrote in a tweet that is no longer available.

Markovitz who, BuzzFeed reports, is a strip club owner and author of “Topless Prophet: The True Story of America’s Most Successful Gentleman’s Club Entrepreneur,” said his beef is not with his ex, but with her new lover.

Deadline Detroit reports that, according to Markovitz, his ex had an affair with the man she’s now cohabiting with.

“I’m so over her,” Markovitz said. “This is about him. This is about him not being a man.”

Markovitz told MyFox Detroit he never meant for his statue to make headlines.

But now that it has, what do you make of it? Weigh in in the poll below and in the

Federal Government Okays 10-year Validity Period For Nigerian Passports

The Federal Government has approved a 10-year validity period for Nigerian passports.

This followed a presidential approval to change the face of the e-passport, 10 years after it was introduced in the country.

The Comptroller-General of Nigerian Immigration Service, Muhammed Babandede, added that the extended validity period would reduce the stress Nigerians went through every five years to renew their passports.

“One of the reforms he (President Buhari) has approved is that we would improve the quality, security of our passport booklets. Ten years after the enrolment of the e-passport system, we need to improve the security features.

You can’t keep documents for 10 years without seeing decreased values in them, so we are improving the security features which would raise the standards of the passports.

Though people will pay more, if they can pay more and get the booklets quickly, it’s good with improved security for 10 years validity. They would pay more but the document would be available, that’s good,” the CG explained.

Bishop Oyedepo Tells President Buhari To ‘Get Out Of Office’

One of Nigeria’s renowned clerics Bishop David Oyedepo has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to resign because of the incessant killings by militant herdsmen.

The founder of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, aka Winners’ Chapel, made this call in a YouTube video posted by the church’s official page.

Oyedepo spoke on the theme, “Enough is enough.”

“When I was talking in 2015, people were saying my own was too much, now everybody can see what’s happening,” he said. ”What has moved forward in anybody’s life? You don’t know it’s war. Why are they attacking the Christian communities? Why has nobody been arrested? I can tell you this, the authorities and the powers that be are behind them.”

“We must wake up and push this evil back. Not one of those so-called herdsmen – they are jihadists – has been brought to book till date. Herdsmen don’t shoot; they have been here all along. They are just taking cover under the herdsmen to assault innocent citizens. They wake up in the night and slice innocent children to pieces. Yet, you have a government in place. What!

“The most honourable thing for any non-performing leader to do is to resign. The most honourable thing is to resign. That’s my own for Mr President. Resign! Get out of office! Even our Islamic friends in the North are calling on him to resign. Because that’s the noblest thing to do. Or are we going to look at one system destroy a whole nation?”

Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Church, Abuja, John Cardinal Onaiyekan and former Archbishop of the Catholic Church in Lagos, Cardinal Anthony Olubunmi Okogie, are two other top clergymen who had urged Buhari to throw in the towel due to the untamed killings.
