GALA seller who gave every one of his goods to prisoners in Lagos, uncovers he was previously a prisoner as he shares his contacting story

Gala seller who gave all his goods to prisoners in Lagos, reveals he was once a prisoner as he shares his touching story

A month ago, Ibere Ugochukwu went viral for  his demonstration of generosity that was witnessed by an inhabitant of Lagos and shared on the web. Regardless of being a hustler in the city of Lagos, Ibere chose to render help to a few prisoners.

Recently, the Humans of New York, an online platform known for sharing inspiring posts, caught up with him and he shared his own story. He revealed that he was once a prisoner who was sent to prison by a wicked boss. Read his touching story below

''A few years ago I worked as an apprentice in a cosmetics shop. I was supposed to receive a payment at the end of my term. But I was warned by the other employees that the owner would find a reason not to pay me. He’d always invent reasons to fire his boys right before their payment. So I made the decision to quit. But when I told him, he dragged me to the police. He told them lies about me. He told them I’d stolen so much money. And they tortured me. They tied my hands and legs and they hung me from the ceiling. They beat me. I went deaf from all the slaps.

For ten days I was given no food. My fellow prisoners would share little bits of their meals when they were finished. But some days I saw nothing. Honestly I was about to die. And I started to pray to God. And on the tenth day, the guards decided that it would cause too much trouble to let me die. They told my employer: After what we did to him, he must be innocent. Because he’d have confessed if he was guilty.

They released me into the world like a madman. And I’ve carried the memory ever since. I promised myself that if I ever found someone in a similar situation, I would help. So when I learned that prisoners pass down this road, I chose to hawk in this location. I waited until I finally saw the truck, and I pushed all my food through the bars. My fellow vendors couldn’t believe it. They asked me who would pay me for the food. I told them: ‘I didn’t do it for any man. I did it because of what God did for me. Ibere hopes to enter the seminary one day. He’s selling food to save money for this goal, as well as to support his family back in the village. In the meantime he wants to open his own shop selling foodstuffs. Alongside the donations from inspired Nigerians who heard his story, $3000 was given to him from the HONY Patreon.”

“Eat Cockroaches For Protein” – CNN Report

A little cockroach milk with those cookies? Chock full of protein, the insect milk may someday be transformed into a food supplement worthy of human consumption, new research indicates.

According to CNN, Scientists have found that the Pacific Beetle Cockroach feeds its bug babies a formula which is remarkably rich in protein, fat and sugar.
Don’t expect to find it next to the regular milk in the dairy section, however, at least not for now.
“Any liquid harvested from a cockroach is not true milk. At least not as we think of it,” said Becky Facer, director of school and educator programs at Fernbank Museum of Natural History in Atlanta.
Most people would agree. After all, the insect liquid takes the form of protein crystals in the guts of baby cockroaches.
“The protein crystals are milk for the cockroach infant. It is important for its growth and development,” said Leonard Chavas, one of the scientists behind the research. He explained the crystals have a whopping three times the energy of an equivalent mass of buffalo milk, about four times the equivalent of cow’s milk.
“The interest here was, what is it really made of?” said Chavas, one of the authors of the research, published in July in the journal International Union of Crystallography.
Chavas and his colleagues examined the species, also known as Diploptera punctata, which is the only species of cockroach known to be viviparous — able to bring forth live babies that have developed within the mother’s body, instead of the mother laying eggs to develop outside her body.
Like other viviparous creatures, this species of roach nourishes its growing embryos with a protein-rich liquid secreted by its brood sac — the roach version of a uterus.
Soon after the embryo ingests the liquid, protein crystals develop within its midgut. Chavas and his colleagues extracted one of these crystals to learn more about it and its potential nutrition. Following tests and even genome sequencing, they discovered it was a complete food.
“It is what one would need: protein, essential amino acids, lipids and sugars,” Chavas said, explaining that the energy content is so high that it helps infants within this unique species grow much bigger than cockroach babies of other species.
Though the crystal formation may seem surprising, other crystals, including insulin, take shape within the body for easier bodily storage — and it could have potential for human consumption, the research suggests.
So, how do you milk a cockroach?
The crystals are currently extracted from the midgut of cockroach embryos — perhaps not the most efficient way of feeding a growing world population.
Ultimately, however, Chavas and his team are hoping to reverse bioengineer cockroach milk, but first they need to understand the exact biological and chemical mechanisms underlying the process.
Join the conversation
“For now, we are trying to understand how to control this phenomena in a much easier way, to bring it to mass production,” Chavas said.
Having lost a drinking game with his colleagues, Chavas tasted the cockroach milk once. “No particular taste,” he commented, though the idea of ice cream appeals to him. He imagines “a flavor with honey and crispy pieces.”
Laugh as you may, there is no irony lost on the fact that that this insect that can survive a nuclear disaster may someday provide the ultimate liquid superfood.

Massive flooding in Bayelsa "blesses" villagers with food (photo)
Massive rain in Bayelsa has prompted flooding that wreaked destruction in many communities, yet some communities have been "honored" by the surge.

A photograph being circulated online purportedly indicates villagers cheering after the surge washed large fishes into their community. The villagers supposedly plan to sell the fish.

On the flip side, residents along the Epie Creek in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, who were adversely affected by the flood have bemoaned their loss and the discomfort caused them by floods that submerged their houses.

It was gathered that the water levels rose beyond tolerable limits and wreaked havoc on houses, the environment, and properties of some residents. Due to the development, some residents were said to have temporarily relocated from their homes to seek refuge in other places.

Man argues no contest to assault of 5-year-old and is condemned to just 90 days of house arrest

Man pleads no contest to rape of 5-year-old and is sentenced to only 90 days of house arrest

Individuals have communicated skepticism after a man argued no contest to the assault of 5-year-old and was condemned to just 90 days of house arrest

Lyle Burgess,79-year-old California businessman, was condemned Wednesday to only 90 days of house arrest and five years of casual probation subsequent to arguing no contest to statutory assault of a child who was just 5 years of age. He likewise does not need to register as a sex offender, according to KTXL.

Family attorney Ken Meleyco said:

A 5-6-year-old little girl was molested. Normally the sentence is state prison and then when you’re released, you have to register as a sex offender.

Meleyco added:
They trusted this man, he was a family friend, and he took advantage of them.

Meleyco says the sex assault happened after the family was invited over to Burgess’ Calaveras County cabin back in 2016.

Meleyco said of the girl, who is now 7:

The girl is not doing good. She’s showing all the symptoms of somebody who’s been molested. She’s in counseling, and she’s gonna be in counseling all her life.

The girl and her family has filed a civil suit against Burgess.

KTXL reached out to Deputy District Attorney Kathy Murray, to find out why Burgess was charged with just statutory rape and why he wouldn’t have to register as a sex offender. But Murray deferred a media person, who said to put any questions in writing online and has yet to respond.

Meanwhile, social media users are outraged at the light sentence Burgess received and have pointed out that Bill Cosby, 81, was sentenced to jail for sexual assault while Burgess gets only 90 days of house arrest for rape of a minor and will not register as a sex offender.

Sister stripped and killed by her boyfriend after dumping him- South African woman reveals

How my sister was stripped and killed after dumping her boyfriend - South African woman reveals
The demise of a woman has left her family in great pains after being stripped and murdered by her boyfriend for dumping him. According to the family of the deceased, the physical abuse on her went on for many years until early this year, when the 45-year-old decided that she was tired of the abuse and dumped him.

She ended up paying with her life for the decision she made. Her family told Daily Sun that Dipuo Makwakwa’s boyfriend would beat her up, strip off her clothes and make her walk home naked.

That seemed to have happened too when her naked body was found in a field last Monday in South Africa. She had been stripped naked, beaten, stabbed and had acid poured on her.

Dipuo’s sister, Dineo (38), from Mohlakeng on the West Rand said her sister didn’t deserve to die like this. She said after Dipuo broke up with her ex, he started stalking her and threatened to kill her.

Dineo said he even came to them, begging Dipuo to take him back. She said the family advised Dipuo to get a protection order, which she duly did.

After hearing about the incident on Monday, the ex-boyfriend’s family hunted him down and handed him over to police. A family representative said: “We couldn’t sit and fold our hands because Dipuo was like our sister too. “We found him at a hostel and took him to the police.”

The Makwakwa family commended the man’s family for what they did.

Dipuo’s brother, Mpho (47), said:-

“We just wish that boy had just forgotten about Dipuo and let her move on with her life. “There was no need to kill her.”

Mpho said they hoped her alleged killer would receive a harsh sentence.

Krugersdorp police spokeswoman Sergeant Tshepiso Mashele confirmed that a suspect was arrested. “A murder case has been opened for investigation. “The suspect is in hospital under police guard after sustaining a burn wound from acid,” said Mashele.

Breaking News: INEC declares Osun Governorship Election Inconclusive, INEC To Announce Date For Rerun

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the Osun State governorship election inconclusive.

The reason for the cancellation, according to the electoral body, is because the number of cancelled votes is higher than the margin between the two top candidates – Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party and Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress.

INEC declared the election inconclusive after announcing that the People’s Democratic Party candidate, Ademola Adeleke, polled 254,698 while APC candidate scored 254,345 votes.

Details later…

A re-run will be declared for the Osun State governorship election due to the margin of victory between the two leading candidates, Premiumtimes is reporting.
.
.
The election, one of the closest in Nigeria’s electoral history, was held on Saturday to elect a new governor for the state.
.
.
At the end of collation of results, Ademola Adeleke of the PDP won majority votes of about 254,698 while Gboyega Oyetola of the APC came a close second with 254,345 votes.
.
.
According to electoral rules, a re-run election can be so declared if the margin of victory in an election is lower than cancelled votes, such as in Osun where thousands of votes were cancelled in various local governments while the vote difference between the leading candidates was less than a thousand.
.
.
The difference between the two leading parties was just 353 votes but the number of cancelled votes was 35,498
.
.
In that case, rerun will be held in only affected areas where elections were cancelled. Premiumtimes reports that Thursday is being considered for the rerun, has INEC has now declared the election inconclusive.

Still Undefeated!!! Boxing Champion Anthony Joshua Defeats Povetkin via 7th-Round TKO

Anthony Joshua yet again proved he can deal with adversity in the ring. The heavyweight champion survived an early assault from challenger Alexander Povetkin before going on to win the fight with a seventh-round technical knockout on Saturday night at Wembley Stadium.

Joshua unloaded a stunning combination on a tiring Povetkin, ending it with a devastating right hook. Povetkin was able to get up for the count, but was clearly dazed and defenseless, forcing the referee to step in and end the fight.

Joshua preserved his undefeated record and retains his IBF, IBO, WBA and WBO world heavyweight titles. After the fight, Joshua said on the DAZN broadcast the top person he would like to face next is Deontay Wilder, the American WBC world heavyweight champion.

Povetkin had proved himself a difficult opponent, much tougher than the odds would have suggested. He hurt Joshua early and his lunges were hard to time.

Yahoo Sports’ Kevin Iole felt the 39-year-old Russian exposed some flaws in the champion
